THE THIRD EDITION OF VRE ENDED ON OCTOBER 30, 2021

The third edition of VRE - Virtual Reality Experience ended on October 30th. 

The international jury composed of the President Liz Rosenthal – Programmer, Venice VR and Susanna Pollack – President of Games for Change, Nimrod Shanit – Founder/CEO Holy City VR E Blimey Ltd and Jingshu Chen Co-Founder of VeeR has decreed that the winner of the Best VR Project award for VRE 21 is The Hangman at Home by Michelle & Uri Kranot and awarded a special mention to Samsara by Huang Hsin-Chieng.

Rai Cinema Award to Il Dubbio 2 by Matteo e Francesco Lonardi.

In collaboration with Romaeuropa Festival and among the Resonances of the 2021 Film Festival, the Festival presented over 30 international works including installations, performances, 360 ° cinema, video dance, interactive experiences.

Satellite events in Turin, Milan, Modena and Palermo and the Festival online on the VeeR VR and HTC VIVEPORT platforms.

After the great success in presence, with a massive turnout in the three days of the festival (Oct 14-16)14 at Pelanda (Ex Mattatoio Roma) thanks to the collaboration with Romaeuropa Festival, VRE continued in digital until 30 October, with free access to the twenty works competing on VeeR VR (https://veer.tv/) and HTC VIVEPORT (https://www.viveport.com /). 

The program presented a selection of over 30 XR works created by creators among the most innovative on the international scene. Italian premiere for two films selected in major overseas festivals and which arrived in Italy with VRE: Strands of mind Marco & Polo Go Round. A focus on Africa and the drama of some realities: Kinshasa Now, The Forgotten Ones Noah’s Raft. Great attention to new products that explore space and time like Samsara, Il Dubbio episodio 2, Paper Birds, Namoo.  

From Rome to the VRE Satellite Venues : at at some of the most prestigious museums and cultural realities: the Museo Nazionale del Cinema Tourin, Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci and Meet Digital Culture, Milan, Laboratorio Aperto, Modena Cre.Zi.Plus ai Cantieri Culturali alla Zisa Palermo.

VRE is an international cutting edge showcase in which the audience could attend a selection of international VR works and VR Interactive, enjoy virtual experiences, attend live performances. The Festival is realized with the contribution of MIC – Ministero della Cultura e della Regione Lazio e con il sostegno di Teleconsys S. p. A. e PTSCLAS S.p.A.
